Profile: Rick Porcello
photo: Rick Porcello
Name: Rick Porcello
Height/Weight: 6-5 / 195
Date of Birth: 12/27/88
School: Seton Hall Prep (NJ) Rank: 42
Porcello improved his stock during the summer of 2006, turning heads at the biggest and most notable showcases and tournament events. With a tall and lanky yet strong frame, Porcello effortlessly displayed his mid-90s heater, leading scouts to believe that velocity will only get better moving forward. He works fast, and his arm whips through in his delivery, and he has good natural, sinking movement. He throws both a curve and a slider, although the slider offers more promise in the future, and is a knockout punch when it is working for him. His changeup is a work in progress, but it shows promise, as he hasn't needed much other than his fastball during his high school career.
