Savery is a lot like Virginia's Sean Doolittle, in that he is a very talented left-handed pitcher as well as a slugging, left-handed hitting first baseman. Unlike Doolittle, I like Savery's profile better on the mound, where he can touch the mid-90s with his fastball and throws a potentially dominant curveball. He followed up his freshman of the year performance during the 2004 season with yet another strong outing as a sophomore. He stands to bat in the middle of the Owls' lineup next spring while serving as the team's Friday starter. With another big season, he could see his name rise within the top 5-10 picks come next June.
