Profile: Phillippe Aumont
photo: Phillippe Aumont
Name: Phillippe Aumont
Height/Weight: 6-7 / 215
Date of Birth: 1/7/89
School: Ecole Du Versant (Quebec, Canada) Rank: 48
Aumont is the best Canadian prospect available for the 2007 draft, and could be the highest drafted Canadian since Adam Loewen and Jeff Francis both went in the top 10 picks in the 2002 draft. Aumont draws rave reviews more for his pure stuff and size than for his polish. With a tall, strong and athletic 6'7", 215 pound build, Aumont has touched 96 with his heater, but his inconsistent delivery and inconsistent mechanics overall lead to varying results from game to game. If he continues to refine his mechanics while finding more consistency with his fastball while refining his potentially dominant slider, Aumont's stock could continue to soar.
