D'Alessio was drafted in the 10th round a year ago, but decided to return to Clemson for his senior season, not only to improve his draft standing, but to help the loaded Clemson Tigers team reach Omaha. He was a talented hitter in high school that fell a little too far in the 2003 draft which caused him to attend Clemson in the first place. His power started to emerge a year ago, as he hit 23 home runs with 85 RBI, among the national leaders in both categories. While he has a disciplined eye at the plate and works the count, he does have some holes in his swing which leads to high strikeout totals. He is a very good defensive first baseman, and takes pride in his work around the bag. A strong senior year could lead to a top five round selection next June.
