Name: Jay Brown
Height/Weight: 6-4 / 200
Date of Birth: 8/7/86
School: South Carolina Rank: 13
Brown was drafted last June by the Devil Rays in the 18th round out of Young Harris Junior College. He has decided to transfer to perennial D1 powerhouse South Carolina, where he could establish himself as the Gamecocks' Friday staff ace. He has the perfect pitching build, and has very good stuff to match his stature, throwing his fastball in the 90-93 range with plenty of room for added and more consistent velocity. His curveball is a little inconsistent, but his changeup is a very good pitch, giving him the foundation for a very good three-pitch repertoire. He was named PG Crosschecker's 30th best prospect on the Cape last summer, and hopes to carry that success into his junior year.
