Sampson has come almost out of nowhere to suddenly be a factor for the first round when the draft rolls around next June. You start with his perfectly projectable and athletic frame. You then move onto how easily the ball comes out of his hand, and then you enjoy the mid-90s radar gun readings on his fastball, with plenty of reason to believe that velocity will either improve or become more consistent. He played Legion ball in the Pacific Northwest, so he was relatively slow to emerge since he hasn't travelled as much to make a national name for himself. He has committed to play for the Washington Huskies, and he along with Greg Peavey gives the state two extremely talented right-handed pitchers to follow this spring.
