Poreda is a scout's dream, with a strong, durable and yet projectable 6'5", 220 pound frame to go along with easy low-90s velocity as a left-handed pitcher. Given that profile the sky truly is the limit. However, he has a lot of work to do to get there. He didn't pitch over the summer, as he hasn't had a chance to repeatedly show what he can do against some of the better hitters in the nation. Although he did shut down heavily Nebraska last year in the Regionals and knocked them out of the postseason. His mechanics need some brushing up, and he needs to find more bite and consistency on both his curveball and his changeup. How much he has improved his game from last spring into this will determine whether or not he's a legitimate first-round pick or a player more than worth the risk of a selection in the top two to three rounds.
