Dietrich has a very nice approach at the plate, showing good hitting mechanics and a nice base from the left side of the plate. His level swing is made for contact, and he has enough power to hit plenty of balls over the fence, especially as his body continues to mature. Everything he hits he hits hard. Defensively he could play second base, and possibly even shortstop at the college level or at the lower levels of the minor leagues, but third base is where he profiles best, with good lateral movement and a strong throwing arm. He has committed to play for Georgia Tech, which is always a tough school to pry recruits away from.
