Profile: Jon Gilmore
photo: Jon Gilmore
Name: Jon Gilmore
Height/Weight: 6-3 / 190
Date of Birth: 8/23/88
School: Iowa City (IA) Rank: 95
Gilmore is the next great prep prospect to come out of the state of Iowa, joining the likes of Jeff Clement, Jeremy Hellickson, Zach Hammes and Ryan Sweeney. Gilmore has very good overall, natural athleticism and perfect physical proportions that allow him to play the game with ease. While he currently plays shortstop, he profiles best at third base given his large frame that is sure to fill out. He has good first-step quickness and a strong arm. Offfnesively he has sloped shoulders like most great hitters have, and shows a nice approach at the plate stining the ball hard to all fields. His size should allow him to hit for even more power as he continues to progress. An Aflac All-American, he has committed to play for Wichita State.
