Fields at this time last year was entering his junior year coming off of an extremely dominant 2006 summer on the Cape where his mid to upper-90s fastball and light's out upper-80s slider made him one of the best closing prospects in all of college baseball. His season got off to a rough start, and while he did progress as the season moved on, his stuff never returned to it's previously dominant form. He ended up having a good enough season for the Bulldogs, and was eventually drafted by the Braves in the second round last June. He decided to return to Georgia to not only improve his draft stock back to where it was before the season started last year, but to also help a budding Georgia program reach Omaha.
