Burnett has been used as a starter so far at Louisiana Tech, and he is expected to be the Friday ace for the Bulldogs this spring, but after an impressive showing last summer as a closer on the Cape, most scouts are thinking that is where his future as a pro lies. He has a huge and intimidating frame at 6'8", 260 pounds, and an equally initimidating fastball that can approach triple digits. His fastball can be even more dominant given that it is thrown on such a dramatic downhill plane. His slider is a work in progress, but an equally dominant pitch when it is working for him, and he also has a pretty nasty splitter. As a starter he has struggled with his control, walking about a batter for every two innings, but posted an impressive 41 to 7 K to BB ratio in over 23 Cape innings, further evidence pointing to a permanent move to the bullpen in the future.
