Built tall, rangy but strong, Mooneyham is one of the bigger names on the rise, and is somewhat of an unknown commodity nationally. He is an excellent student and has committed to play for Stanford, which already has scouts in doubt of his signability, similar to Jack McGeary a year ago, whose creative signing may be the benchmark that Mooneyham will follow if teams want to sign him. And teams may be looking to do just that as Mooneyham has a very good pitching frame and an improving repertoire that includes a power fastball, that sits in the low-90s, curveball combo. He has the complete package to be taken much earlier than where McGeary was selected a year ago, and could even sneak into the top 10-15 overall picks, which may make his bonus aspirations a moot point.
