Lawrie is the top prospect from Canada eligible for the 2008 draft, and he could sneak into the end of the first round, the second time in two years that a Canadian prep player was a legitimate candidate to go in the first round (Phillippe Aumont in 2007). Lawrie is going to go high based on his offensive potential, with lightning quick bat speed and exciting power potential. He has an equally powerful arm, that could play at third base, a corner outfield spot or behind the plate, where he probably will be given a chance to succeed upon becoming a pro. He has committed to Arizona State.
