As Griggs' fastball velocity continues to rise, so does the interest from the scouting community in his abilities. As an Aflac All-American he showed an incredibly sharp breaking ball and touched 95 with his heater. During the Jupiter tournament he touched 94, and regularly works in the 89-91 range. His fastball as noted is a plus pitch, giving him two legitimate strikeout pitches. His changeup is still a work in process, but it shows promise at times. Griggs has a very loose arm delivery and overall action, and is able to create a little bit of movement on his fastball. He has a nice, athletic frame, although he does need to work on refining his overall approach to pitching as opposed to just throwing. His performances during the summer and fall last year have made him a legitimate candidate to go in the first round, where his commitment to UCLA won't be as difficult to contend with.
