Dominguez is all about power. From his swing to his throwing arm, few players can match him in either regard. His large, hulking frame has drawn a few Troy Glaus comparisons, although I'm less certain that Dominguez will be able to stick at third base. He's a little stiff for his size, and his hands aren't as soft as they could be. His big body leads to a big swing, which leads to high strikeout totals. When he makes contact with the ball it travels a long, long way, but he probably will never hit for a high average. He also is too aggressive at the plate, and has never been known to work the count as much as he should. His arm strength has led some scouts to inquire if he would be interested in moving to the mound, as he did pitch in high school, but his preference lies as a hitter. He will probably have to move to either first base or a corner outfield spot down the road, and may have a difficult time progressing past the upper levels in the minors unless he drastically tones down his swing. He's a prototypical boom or bust prospect.
