Brewerfan.net top prospect list, as voted by the fans
Over the past several weeks, we have been conducting several fan polls on the minor league portion of the fan forum trying to determine a top prospect list. Of course, we always have Toby's valuable Power 50 to fall back on, but it's hard not to want to play the role of Toby from time to time, especially during these slow offseason months (and it's only November). So, spot by spot we voted who we believed was the top prospect, from the first best prospect to the twentieth. Each poll for each spot was open for 2 days, or 50 votes, whichever came first. Here are the results:
1. Prince Fielder 2. Rickie Weeks 3. J.J. Hardy 4. Manny Parra 5. Corey Hart 6. Mike Jones 7. Dave Krynzel 8. Ben Hendrickson 9. Brad Nelson i 10. Luis Martinez 11. Lou Palmisano 12. Matt Ford 13. Dennis Sarfate 14. Tom Wilhelmsen 15. Tony Gwynn Jr. 16. Ben Diggins 17. Steve Moss 18. Pedro Liriano 19. Greg Bruso 20. Enrique Cruz
At this point we realized that so many prospects could be in contention for each and every spot that a poll offering 4 candidates at each spot was far too restrictive, so the next step is to try & determine the prospects that fall into order next. Toby's top prospect list goes all of the way to 50. Baseball America's prospect handbook lists the top 30 players for each organization. How far are we going to go? We are going to let our fans determine that, depending on how many submissions we receive & how differently people think.
We're asking our users to submit whom they think are the 15 next best prospects, in order, #21-#35. Please note who has already been selected and double-check your list to make sure you don't list the same player twice. Once you have make your list please send that to Brewerfan.net user Matt Gamble (Katuluu on the forums) at:
katuluu@earthlink.net
Point values will be given to prospects in reverse order of the way they are received. In other words, if Kade Johnson is your 21st best prospect, he will be given 15 points for your submission. If Brandon Gemoll is #35, he will receive 1 point. Placement will be awarded in order to the players with the most cumulative points. We could end up with 10-15 additional players, we may end up with 20-30, again, it all depends on how many submissions we receive & how much the lists vary.
This part of the poll will be open for 2 weeks. In that time Matt Gamble will tally up the votes to determine the list of how the next batch of prospects stacks up. All submissions will need to be received by Sunday, November 30th, and a follow-up story will be posted shortly after that to announce the results.
Everyone has their favorites, so be sure to vote for yours and let your voice be heard!
