The Brewerfan Minor League Players of the Month awards are back. After a year-long hiatus, we're back to honoring the best that the minor league system had to offer during the previous four weeks. At the end of each month we'll award one Batter of the Month and one Pitcher of the Month for the entire minor league system, as well as mention players on each team who were in contention for the award.
So, without further ado, the nominees from each team, with position and OBP/SLG/OPS for the batters and ERA/WHIP/K:BB for the pitchers:

Those are the nominees, and here are your Brewerfan Minor League Players of the Month:
Batter of the Month: Jeff Liefer, 1B, Indianapolis , 29 years old
Jeff Liefer is Brewerfan's Batter of the Month for April after dominating AAA pitching to the tune of a .361 batting average, four doubles, four home runs, seven walks, and twenty-one RBIs in 61 at-bats last month. Liefer lead the organization in slugging with a .656 mark and was second in on-base percentage with a .423 clip. He also set a club record for minutes locked in a bathroom during a game, with 15 minutes.
Liefer was signed by the Brewers as a minor league free agent this past January, and after a long stint in Major League camp in spring training, Liefer was assigned to class-AAA Indianapolis to begin the season. A former # 3 prospect in the Chicago White Sox organization, Liefer was named the International League Player of the week three times between 1999 and 2000. He has 685 Major League at-bats to his name, and Liefer is a career .233/.287/.407 hitter in the bigs.
Pitcher of the Month: Ben Hendrickson, SP, Indianapolis, 23 years old
Ben Hendrickson is no stranger to Player of the Month awards, and he's the consensus Brewerfan/Milwaukee Brewers Pitcher of the Month for April. In his first four class-AAA starts and 21.2 inning pitched, Hendrickson was dominant, allowing only four runs (1.66 ERA), three walks, no home runs and sixteen hits, while striking out eighteen opposing batters. He also takes a 3-0 record into the month of May.
Hendrickson was drafted in the tenth round of the 1999 amateur draft, and is one of the few picks left over from the Sal Bando era. After signing late, he pitched in Ogden in 2000, Beloit in 2001, High Desert and Huntsville in 2002, and Huntsville again in 2004. He has compiled a career minor league ERA (entering this season) of 3.27 over 413 innings, including a scant 21 home runs allowed over that time span. He was invited to big league camp for the first time this spring, and currently the 8 th best prospect in the Brewers' system according to the Power 50.
