Career Highlights
9 All-Stars
5 Gold Gloves
Led his league in:
Bases on Balls 4 times
On Base Percentage and Games Played 2 times each
Number of the ten similar batters listed on his www.baseball-reference.com page in the Hall of Fame: 0
For this week's entry, I went with another highly requested player, former Cubs third baseman, Ron Santo. Santo is no longer on the writers' ballot, and will only make the Hall if he is eventually chosen by the Veterans Committee.
The first thing I learned while researching Santo was, third base has fewer Hall electees than any other position. There are only ten Hall members who played third more than any other position in their careers. Stop and consider that for a moment, only ten men considered truly elite from this position in over a century
