In October of 1969, the St Louis Cardinals completed a multi-player trade
with the Philadelphia Phillies. One of the players involved was 31-year-old
Cardinals outfielder Curt Flood. Flood, a three-time All Star, and fixture on
three World Series teams for St Louis, refused to report to the Phillies.
On January 16, 1970, Flood shocked the world by filing suit against Major
League Baseball, and its Reserve Clause. For those who don
