One of the lasting effects of the events of this past September on the baseball world has been the new scrutiny on the ages and identities of players of Latin decent, most notably from the Dominican Republic. Players from that country have had to provide proof of who and how old they are as they leave the Dominican to play baseball in the United States, and as a result, almost 300 Dominican major and minor leaguers have had their actual birth dates, and in some cases, names, change. The vast majority of the players whose birth dates changed had them change for the worse - most of them turned out to be older than originally thought.
This is obviously not a new story. This has been talked about in the media and across the baseball world thoroughly since the first players had their ages changed way back before spring training. Today, I'm just going to run down the (hopefully) final list of Brewers' major leaguers and farmhands whose ages and names have been altered from last season to this season. All in all, the Brewers have had 12 age/name changes to deal with in the system, which is about average among the major league organizations. I completed most of the research on the Brewers' personnel by myself, but I do wish to thank Baseball America for the complete minor league overview, and for filling in a few gaps for the Brewers for me.

Offensive Player Of The Week:
Ogden batters have sure been on a tear as of late, and Brewers 2002 #1 draft pick Prince Fielder continued that trend this past week, and he is our offensive player of the week. Prince has been rock steady so far this season at the heart of the Raptors' lineup. This last week was no exception, as he batted .423/.483/.846 in six games, 26 at-bats. Prince socked three home runs and added two doubles, while driving in six runs and crossing the plate seven times. He was hit by a pitch and stole one base in one attempt. The first baseman was drafted about a month ago by the Brewers, bats left, throws right, is 6'0 and 250 pounds.

Pitcher Of The Week:
The Arizona Brewers have what will likely turn out to be one of their very few entries in the player of the week awards this week, as pitcher Carlos Ramirez outshined everyone else in the system last week. In two rare long rookie-league starts, the 17 year old Dominican lefty threw 11.2 innings last week, allowing 4 runs on 13 hits and 3 walks for a 3.08 ERA. He did show a proficiency for the K, striking out 13. Carlos, who doesn't turn 18 until August, was signed out of the Dominican prior to last season. He's 6'3 and 165.
