First-team preseason All-American by BA. Fire-balling righty that has been clocked as high as 97 mph with good movement on his fastball. Similar style of pitcher to the Brewers Mike Jones. Has a smooth yet max effort delivery & is very athletic, and could be considered as an outfield prospect. Both his curveball and changeup have shown improvement this spring. His curveball works well in the mid-70s which is a nice change from his low to mid-90s fastball. He still needs to develop more consistency with this pitch, especially making sure that he maintains his arm slot & speed. He does maintain his arm speed well with his changeup, which has also shown improvement this year. It fades away from left-handed hitters. He also throws a split-fingered fastball, although this may be a pitch he is encouraged not to throw as a pro given the toll that pitch takes on an arm. In 38 innings pitched this spring he has allowed only 3 hits and 9 walks while striking out 99 batters. As a junior he went 11-2 with a 0.16 ERA with 158 strikeouts in 83 innings of work. He is a very good overall athlete that has excelled as his team's shorstop, both in the field and at the plate. He also is one of the top hockey players in the nation, and has also lettered in soccer. Rogers is a very good student in the classroom, and has committed to play for the Miami Hurricanes.
