Ortiz is the fastest player available in the draft, with blinding speed on the basepaths and in the outfield. He has a very good frame that isn't even close to being fully matured, as many scouts believe he will start to add power once he gains more muscle mass. He's a similar prospect to the Brewers 4th-round pick from a year ago, Charlie Fermaint, who also hailed from Puerto Rico. Ortiz is quick to the ball at the plate with a line drive stroke. He is a switch hitter and is very fast out of the box.
