  Scouting Report

Before his shoulder problems, Hammonds hit for a pretty good average and showed respectable power. He could reach the fences from gap to gap, but he hasn't hit the ball to right-center with authority in a while. He's too aggressive to work the count, and fails to take advantage when it's in his favor. He definitely does his best hitting early in the count. He never has come close to the 106 runs he drove in for the Rockies in 2000, his only season with Colorado.
