| Draft & Follow Candidates for 2007

That story already listed the "ones that got away," but here's the list again, with the round in which they were selected listed first, and the college in which they attended listed in parenthesis. I should note that in that previous story I incorrectly included 26th round pick Marc Lewis and 29th round pick David Newmann as candidates still under the Brewers control, believing they were fifth-year seniors. Lewis is a true senior, and Newmann is a redshirt junior, and they have been added to the ones that got away:

The Brewers will follow 18 DFE candidates this spring, one less than a year ago. This will be the last year of the draft and follow process, as a new rule has been instituted with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement in which all drafted players must sign by August 15th, roughly two months after the draft takes place. There will be no exceptions, so any player not signed by that date will no longer be under control of the team that drafted them two months earlier.
