Profile: Blake Beaven
photo: Blake Beaven
Name: Blake Beaven
Height/Weight: 6-6 / 200
Date of Birth: 1/17/89
School: Irving (TX) Rank: 49
Beaven was named Baseball America's Youth Player of the Year after a complete game shutout of Cuba pitching for Team USA. Beaven has everything you want in a pitcher: Size, stuff and natural athleticism. Built tall and strong at 6'6", 200 pounds, Beaven regularly pumps his fastball in the low to mid-90s, and has reached 96. He has a big, sweeping slider that projects as a plus pitch when it is working for him. He is very athletic, that allows him to repeat his delivery well and keeps his long limbs in check. The sky is the limit for Beaven, who has committed to Oklahoma.
