Name: Matt Dominguez
Height/Weight: 6-2 / 180
Date of Birth: 8/28/89
School: Chatsworth (CA) Rank: 5
Dominguez is yet another talented third base prospect from Southern California joining Aflac All-American Josh Vitters and Victor Sanchez, giving the '07 draft class very good depth at the third base position. Dominguez is a very good athlete, more naturally gifted than Vitters, although he doesn't have Vitters polished approach at the plate or his raw power potential at this point in time. Dominguez is athletic enough to play shortstop in a pinch, although he is expected to put on more muscle as he matures, where his power arm and powerful bat make him a natural fit at the hot corner. He has a disciplined eye, and has a knack for making consistent hard contact, and can lace the ball to all parts of the field. He has committed to play for Cal State Fullerton, although he is expected to be drafted high enough where his college commitment won't be a factor.
