Colon was the MVP of the Aflac All-American Classic during the summer of 2006, showing a little bit of everything by hitting, stealing bases, scoring runs and playing sound defense. While he is a smaller player that doesn't have a whole lot of power potential, he makes good contact and sprays the ball all over the field. Once he's on base he has enough speed to pressure the opposing defense, and could be a prototypical top of the order catalyst. Defensively he has good range at shortstop and a strong throwing arm. He plays both shortstop and second base equally well. Colon is a native Puerto Rican that has moved around a few times before settling in Southern California, adding to the already deep crop of SoCal infielders. He has committed to play for perennial D1 powerhouse Cal State Fullerton.
