Moustakas is rising up draft boards this spring faster than any other player. He is now being considered a legitimate top 10 overall selection, as he is putting on a power display in Southern California. He plays alongside fellow potential first-round pick Matt Dominguez at national powerhouse Chatsworth High School. A left-handed hitter, Moustakas has a very good approach, makes consistent, hard contact to all parts of the field and his power potential makes him the second best all-around hitter in the nation to fellow Southern Californian Josh Vitters. Moustakas has good athleticism, and currently plays shortstop, but is expected to slide over to third base at the pro level, with some scouts believing he could catch given his lateral quickness and strong arm. He has committed to play for USC, and will be advised by Scott Boras, so he could be a difficult sign.
